Clear and comprehensive, this book offers tips, explanations and examples to avoid making the most common French mistakes, both written and spoken.
This "Minute" collection, which promises to immerse oneself in a subject in 200 points, at the rate of a minute here and there, currently proposes to tackle the difficulties of the French language. With as much pragmatism as possible. It will not be a question of grammatical theory, which is good for our wise Academicians, but of listing the subjects that cause us problems on a day-to-day basis, whether when writing an e-mail, during a family discussion, or even speaking at a press conference at the highest summit in the state!
We dared to do a little fantasy, going against the current of the swarms of books on the theme: illustrating most of the lessons with examples drawn from the history of France. We saw it as a way to capture attention and hopefully fix acquired knowledge.
Let's progress, let's set ourselves the objective of respecting the existing rules, while listening to Victor Hugo tell us: "[...] the French language is not fixed and will not be fixed. A language is not fixed. human mind is always on the move, or, if you will, in motion, and languages with it." (preface to Cromwell, 1827).
